I'll be updating this blog periodically throughout the summer as steps are taken to prepare for and install the first Chondola in New England. What's a Chondola you ask? Well this blog will be a great place to learn that and a whole bunch more. We're in the process of removing the previous lift (#7) right now. There will be more updates coming right away on that topic now that this blog is live.
Here's the simple truth for those just arriving:
New England skiers and riders will experience a new mode of mountain transport next winter as Sunday River prepares to install the first Chondola in the Northeastern U.S. The Chondola will be a high-speed detachable six-person chairlift that carries gondola cabins at regular intervals. The $7.2 million hybrid lift is one of only four in North America and will transport skiers and riders from the South Ridge base area directly to the summit of North Peak, a location from which six of Sunday River’s eight peaks are directly accessible.
Here's a couple worthy clicks for background info.
