Q: What's up with the 20 foot deep and 30 foot wide hole that just got dug?
A: An anchor footing will be set deep in this hole and buried to absorb much of the torque.
Q: Why not use the dirt that came out of the hole to fill it back in?
A: The fill needs to be stable and void of large rocks to equally distribute the load. So this additional fill will be added.
